Since 2009 we have cared for many types of small rodent as well as having had plenty of our own! We have experience with hamsters, degus, chinchillas, gerbils and rats.
Hamsters
Whether dwarf, Roborovski, Chinese or Syrian, we have experience with them and currently have two Russian dwarf hamsters of our own. Usually it’s best to bring your own cage to help them settle quickly, but we do have an ‘Alaska’ cage suitable for a Syrian hamster, available to borrow if wished.
Please bring their usual dry food and any favourite toys or treats.
We are happy to change bedding and provide appropriate fresh and dry treats if used to them. If your hamster is friendly we can provide extra supervised playtime out of their cage.
Degus & Chinchillas
Please bring their own cage and usual dry food or treats. We can provide hay and changes of bedding as required.
Gerbils
Please bring their own cage and usual dry food and treats. We can provide changes of bedding as required. If your gerbils are friendly we are happy to provide supervised extra playtime out of their cage.
Rats
We have over 25 years’ experience of owning pet rats and we know they are such great characters who earn a devoted following among owners. We currently have 4 of our own too!
To ensure top hygeine and attention we only board one family of rats at a time.
You are welcome to bring their own cage but we ask you to check the dimensions with us first to ensure we have space.
We do have an Alaska cage to borrow, which is suitable for up to 2 rats, subject to availability.
If your rats are tame then shoulder rides are definitely an option! We don’t have facilities for free floor roaming but will provide plenty of enrichment for your rats during their stay and keep them impeccably clean.
Fresh food and rat-safe bedding (no woodshavings) can be provided by us, or bring your own.
